Executive Director
The Executive Director advise the Commission on all aspects of Commission business. He/She is authorized to make all decisions, take all actions, and develop all activities which are true to the Commission’s Governance Policies. The Executive Director will assume full responsibility, consistent with all Commission Policies, for all Human Resource matters, organization of administrative programs and procedures, directing the day-to-day activities of the Commission, financial management, monitoring and reporting on financial and program performance, and acting as a liaison with planning partners.
Executive Assistant / Office Administrator
Under the direction of the Executive Director, and the day to day direction of the Director of Finance, Manager of IT, Director of Policy and Planning, and the Manager of Implementation, the Executive Assistant/Office Administrator is responsible for providing clerical, administrative and executive support, project coordination, systems data management and storage for the 3 Commission offices and is based in Iqaluit.
Legal Advisor
The Legal Advisor has the responsibility of providing legal services for the Nunavut Planning Commission. As an active member of the Senior Management Team, this position is actively participated in all SMT meetings.
Travel/Finance/Administrative Clerk
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Travel Administrative Finance Clerk makes all travel arrangements, arranges for facilities and meetings and provides office support services that facilitate effective office operations. Taking direction from the Director of Finance, He/She is responsible to provide accounting support including reconciling credit card statements, entering, coding and processing and generating payments for accounts payable and receivable. Responsibilities also include payroll, and backup for the office Administrator.
Senior Policy Advisor
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Policy Advisor provides analysis and advice on Strategy, Policy, emerging issues and Risk. He/She is also responsible for document/report writing and control, external liaison and internal co-ordination, operational analysis and monitoring and senior level administration. As part of the Senior Management Team, He/She will provide advice on current mandate and strategy, support communications with all planning partners and routinely display both people and intellectual leadership.
Communications Coordinator/Policy Advisor
Reporting to the Executive Director the Communications Coordinator/Policy Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing a Communications Strategy and Plan for the Commission, as well as the preparation of briefing material, press releases, notices, speeches, newsletters, minutes from meetings, and the Commission’s Annual Reports. The Communications Coordinator/Policy Advisor also provides analysis, research and advice on strategy, policy, emerging issues and risk and support the SMT in the Nunavut Land Use Planning process. The Communications Coordinator/Policy Advisor also assists and coordinates responses to ATIP requests and assists with the preparation of annual work plans and budgets as well as financial reports as required by funding agreements.
Director of Finance
The Director of Finance is accountable to the Executive Director and, as such, is responsible for the all financial related functions, administration and human resource management and timely preparation of all financial, personnel and administrative reports. This position is charged with maintaining confidentiality of financial information, personnel records and confidential contract information.
Senior Finance Officer
Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Senior Finance Officer is responsible to ensure day-to-day accounting and financial and general administration services are provided to the Nunavut Planning Commission.
Human Resources Officer
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of staff while ensuring that employment, personnel and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with applicable provisions of federal and territorial labor laws. This position also administers the NPC's benefits programs.
Manager of Information Technology
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager Information Technology is responsible for all information technologies systems, computers, equipment Internet, software, and software licenses, website management and database technologies for the Commission. He/She will provide computer orientation to the Commission’ staff and Commissioners.
Director of Policy and Planning
Reporting to the Executive Director, this senior operational position has responsibility for the development and implementation of land use plans and related policy matters. Responsibilities include ensuring the land use planning requirements of Nunavut Agreement and the Nunavut Planning and Project Assessment Act are met.
Manager of Planning and Implementation
The Manager of Implementation, reporting to the Executive Director / Director Policy and Planning, is responsible for coordinating regional planning staff operations and quality control of operations related to the development, implementation and on-going maintenance of land use plans.
Senior Planner
Under the direction of the Manager of Implementation, the Senior Planner is responsible for managing and providing oversight for all aspects for the effective and efficient implementation of land use plans and the Nunavut Planning and Project Assessment Act (NUPPAA).
Planner
Under the direction of the Senior Planner, the Planner is responsible for assisting with the effective and efficient implementation of land use plans and the Nunavut Planning and Project Assessment Act (NUPPAA).
Regional Planning Coordinator/Mapper & Translator
Under the direction of the Senior Planner, the Regional Planning Coordinator/Mapper & Translator is responsible for coordination with the communities of a region. This includes meetings and consultations, providing information about NPC, assisting with meeting arrangements, documentation and administration, and mapping duties. He/She is also responsible for providing professional Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun-English translating services.
GIS Land Technician/Planner
Reporting to the Manager of Planning & Implementation, the GIS Land Technician/Planner is responsible for assisting with the implementation requirements of Nunavut Agreement, Article 11, Land Use Planning. He/She will provide technical expertise in the collection and analysis of spatial and temporal data as well as social and economic information relevant to regional land use planning and resource management. He/She is responsible for supporting all cartographic and GIS computer operations in the planning office. He/She is also responsible for all aspects for the effective and efficient implementation of land use plans and the Nunavut Planning and Project Assessment Act (NUPPAA).
Junior GIS Land Technician/Planner
Reporting to the Senior Planner and GIS Land Technician/Planner the Jr. GIS Land Technician/Planner is responsible for assisting with the implementation requirements of Nunavut Agreement (NA) Article 11, Land Use Planning, and related NA articles. The interdisciplinary Jr. GIS Land Technician/Planner works with others in providing technical expertise in the collection, digitization, analysis, and representation of spatial data as well as social and economic information relevant to regional land use planning and resource management. The Jr. GIS Land Technician/Planner is responsible for supporting all cartographic and GIS computer operations in the organization. The Jr. GIS Land Technician/Planner is also responsible for assisting with the effective and efficient implementation of land use plans and the Nunavut Planning and Project Assessment Act (NUPPAA).
Translator / Interpreter, Inuktitut, Innuinaqtun and French
The Translator / Interpreter is responsible for providing professional Inuktitut-English / Innuinaqtun-English / French-English interpreting and translating services to the Nunavut Planning Commission.
