Born in Frobisher Bay, Adamie Sakeeta spent part of his early years in Montreal, but has proudly called Iqaluit home for much of his life in Nunavut.
His professional journey reflects a strong foundation in mineral management, having served as the Mining Recorder at the Mining Recorder’s Office with Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC). In addition, Adamie gained valuable experience in the transportation sector as Customer Service and Ground Operations Manager for Canadian North Airlines, where he oversaw operations throughout Baffin Island.
In early 2025, Adamie joined the Nunavut Planning Commission as a Planner, deepening his commitment to fostering a prosperous future for the territory and promoting conservation efforts. His wealth of experience and dedication make him a vital addition to the Commission’s talented team.
Outside of work, Adamie is a devoted family man with four children and a grandchild. He treasures his time in nature—whether relaxing at his cabin or casting a line in the river. His love of cooking has also made him a familiar face in the community, with appearances on local cooking shows, contributions to small-scale catering projects, and active participation in fundraising events centered around food.
